The special needs service works with other University staff to ensure that appropriate support is available for students:
- with disabilities and ongoing illnesses, and
- admitted through the inpUTS Educational Access Scheme and special admission schemes.
It provides a central contact point for information about the services and procedures the University has in place to ensure the accessibility of its educational programs to people with disabilities and ongoing illnesses.
UTS is committed to providing equal opportunity for students with disabilities through an inclusive educational environment. The University uses the definition of disability in the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (opens an external site), which covers of a wide range of physical, sensory, psychiatric and learning disabilities, as well as ongoing illnesses. Temporary and permanent disabilities are covered by the University’s policies.
