Tenancy Advice

The Housing Service can can provide detailed advice to students regarding all tenancy matters. This can include information about:

  • bond money
  • up-front rent
  • rent receipts
  • required notice for ending leases
  • requesting maintenance from your landlord or real estate agency
  • information about your rights, and
  • the landlords rights.

Students experiencing difficulties with private rental tenancy matters such as disputes with landlords or share house conflicts can get information about their rights and responsibilities as a tenant.

Information about using the Consumer, Trader & Tenancy Tribunal (CTTT) and referral to agencies that can assist you in disputes can be found at the CTTT website: http://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au/corporate/cttt.html (opens an external site).
