Referrals

Because coming to counselling is voluntary and confidential it is our preference for prospective clients to book in for appointments themselves. Try to encourage a prospective client to give us a call. However there may be instances where this is not possible.

How UTS Staff can Report and Refer Students for Support

If you are an academic and concerned about the mental health of a student in your class or the impact of a student's behaviour on other students, refer to the information on the Reporting and referral grid (PDF , 48kb). This grid has been developed to assist UTS Staff in recommending appropriate support and referral pathways for students, ranging from those with everyday concerns to those experiencing serious disruption to study or eliciting high level concern about their behaviour or well-being.

How UTS Students can Report and Refer other Students for Support

If you are a student and are concerned for the safety of another student or if there are any other issues that you would like to discuss but are uncertain about, ring the Counselling Service and ask to speak to the Head of Counselling. They will discuss the most appropriate mode of referral with you and will ask for the contact details of the person. A counsellor will then contact the person in question and invite them to attend an appointment.
