What do we do?
Chaplains are available to journey with you taking into account the whole person: intellectual, social, physical and spiritual.
We offer a free and confidential personal and spiritual assistance at both an individual and corporate level.
We offer spiritual counselling, prayer and meditation groups, religious education, and workshops on a variety of topics in order to support the faith development of the campus community.
Chaplains offer spiritual support by:
- Being available at critical moments to facilitate your personal and spiritual growth
- Providing personal counselling, emphasising spiritual wisdom and faith perspectives for coping, healing and reconciliation
- Providing a Chaplain to attend the specific needs of any faith community
- Providing personal support regardless of faith tradition
- Connecting individuals with appropriate groups for support in your religious tradition or spiritual interests
Chaplains may also:
- Facilitate discussion groups on a wide variety of theological, ethical and justice-related concerns
- Offer opportunities for learning about different world religions and enhancing your own spiritual practices through visiting lectures and public forums on topical issues
- Provide advice and assistance to the campus community at times of celebration mourning and transition
- Encourage and nurture the development of a sense of shared community as appropriate
- Create an environment of multi-faith respect and cooperation
