Types of Working Solutions placements
Working Solutions placements can take a number of different approaches including:
Internships
UTS, the host employer and the student negotiate a structured work placement. Internships are required to be a minimum of 10 days. In accordance with visa requirements students may work for up to 20 hours per week during semester.
Project-based teamwork placements
UTS and the host employer negotiate outcome focused project parameters and the size of the team required. In accordance with visa requirements students may work for up to 20 hours per week during semester.
Young Achievement Australia (YAA) sponsorship
Students form a team and compete with other teams across Australia in a 24-week program.
The team starts a company, lists it on the Australian Stock Exchange, sells shares and sees it through the business life cycle.
Sponsorship of teams is available to employers through UTS. For more information on becoming a UTS team sponsor please contact Careers Service.

Placement period and duration
The timing of Working Solutions may be highly varied and undertaken in the mid-year semester break, the summer vacation period or part-time during semester for a minimum of 10 days. Projects can be done either in a block period or spread over time, for example, 1 day a week for 20 weeks.
The placement period and duration is generally flexible and negotiable, aimed at suiting student study commitments and the needs and resources of the host employer.
