Who is Working Solutions for?

In 2007 UTS Working Solutions will be offered to final year International students enrolled in MBA Professional Accounting.

Why can I not Participate in Working Solutions?

UTS Working Solutions is being run as a trial program in 2007. The cohort of eligible students has been set at a manageable level in order to promote chances of success. If the program is successful and further funding is granted the Working Solutions program may be enlarged in future years.

Why are you only targeting International MBA (Professional Accounting) final year students?

UTS Working Solutions is targeting International MBA (Professional Accounting) final year students for a number of reasons:

· The size of the cohort is suited to the trial program requirements

· The professional accounting field is an area of identified skill shortage in Australia

· Final year students will have developed the necessary competencies to undertake meaningful placements.

Will I get paid?

The focus of Working Solutions is on meaningful workplace experiences these may be paid or unpaid. Importantly payment is not a requirement of the host employer under the Working Solutions program and should not be expected by students.

What information and assistance is the Careers Service able to offer me?

The UTS Careers Service

is able to assist students in a number of different ways. Please feel free to spend some time reviewing the website for further details of services offered.

Where and when can I apply?

You can apply at any time by completing the Student Application Form.

In 2007 UTS Working Solutions will be offered to final year International students enrolled in MBA Professional Accounting.  If you are not in your final year you will be ineligible to apply for a Working Solutions placement.

Can I organise my own placement with a host organisation?

Students are welcome to source their own host organisation. Prior to the commencement of this placement UTS will need to provide endorsement. Information assisting students to find their own placement is available at the Careers Service.

Will Working Solutions be offered in 2008?

Continuation of the Working Solutions program into 2008 will be largely dependent on the overall success in 2007 and the availability of further funding to make the program viable.

Can I find a placement in my home country during semester break?

Students may be eligible to source their own working solutions placement in their home country during a semester break. Students doing approved work experience in their home country are covered by UTS insurance except USA & Canada. The Careers Service will need to approve any placement in a student’s home country prior to commencement.

NB UTS does not cover students' when on leave of absence.

What happens if I graduate? (When are students no longer deemed to be students?)

Students will be eligible for Working Solutions Placements as longer as they are current students. Students are considered to be students' of UTS while their status is current on the student system (CASS).
